Let’s be honest
we’re all here for the clothes, even if the red carpet is all about collecting money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and its new show, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” In case you were unaware, the subject for this year is an investigation into the opulence that existed during the Gilded Age of Tory Burch loafers, which began in the 1870s and lasted until the 1920s in the United States. The events that took place during the previous year play a significant role in the celebrations that will take place this year. The two-part exhibition and overarching theme pay tribute to the significant contributions Givenchy earrings that American designers and artisans have made throughout the annals of fashion history.
Whether or not you belong to the school of thought that participants are required to follow the theme to the letter by dressing to the nines in opera gloves and corsets of all things worn, the red carpet never fails to deliver when it comes to outrageous fashion choices that we’ll all be talking about for years to come.
Tonight’s red carpet was one for the history books with a dress code that called for “Gilded Glamour.” Previous themes have ranged from Carolina Herrera’s shoes”The Catholic Imagination” to “Camp,” but tonight’s red carpet was one for the history books. This event is part two of the gala’s overall theme In America Givenchy bracelet: An Anthology of Fashion, and it pays tribute to America during the Gilded Age, which was a period of post-Civil War economic prosperity that spanned from 1870 to 1900.
Part one, which took place a year ago and was titled “A Lexicon of Fashion,” was met with a variety of responses and approaches from participants. Some, like J.Lo and Billie Eilish, found their inspiration in the Wild West Gucci black heels, while others looked too old Hollywood or even the concept of patriotism itself (Amanda Gorman). However, several others decided to completely disregard the theme, like Kim Kardashian, who wore an all-black Balenciaga ensemble to the event with Nordstrom Christian Louboutin.
But the red carpet at this year’s ceremony promised a more tailored approach, with celebrities such as Janelle Monáe and Sarah Jessica Parker stepping back in time with fitting corset dresses, sharp suits, and plenty of white ties with Miu Miu heels. Both Billie Eilish and Sarah Jessica Parker wore their dresses to the 2018 Grammy Awards.

- Alicia Keys was in the mindset of being in New York.
Since Alicia Keys is so used to singing about her hometown in songs such as “Empire State of Mind” and “Streets of New York,” it is only natural that she would start dressing to match the subject matter of her lyrics.
Her glistening black and silver Ralph Lauren gown had a silhouette of the whole New York City skyline emblazoned on the cape of the black portion of the dress. Swizz Beatz, who is a music producer, accompanied Keys as they walked the red carpet.

At the SAG Awards, Hudgens wasn’t the only one channelling Old Hollywood; Alexandra Daddario did as well with her side-swept hair and silver gown. Hudgens wasn’t the only one turning back the clock at the SAG Awards. The actress of “White Lotus” decided to wear a custom-made Versace gown to the event.
